Circular : Disruption in the School
Ref.No.: DPSB/Web/2019/05/01
To: All Parents

Dear Parent,
I would like to keep you updated on recent events at the school, which have caused some disruption in the school. Let me express my deepest regret that we have faced this disruption. We have consistently tried to ensure maximum class work at DPS Budgam, especially because of the time we lose to disturbances in Kashmir.
The current problems have arisen because some staff have raised certain demands, especially related to their salary increment. Similar issues arose last year. At that time, management and staff agreed to a set of principles centered around staff concerns. It appears that some staff would like to raise certain issues again, including by causing disruptions to school life. This is certainly not a constructive approach for a harmonious environment for children. Most importantly, disruptions to bus schedules can become a grave safety hazard that all of us must be extremely sensitive to. We are hopeful that no such disruptions will take place in the future, while the door is open for discussion and dialogue.
For your information, staff salaries were increased for this financial year by 6%. It shows that whatever increase in fees was sanctioned by the Govt. Fee Fixation Committee, the same amount has been sanctioned as an increment by the school in favour of the teachers and other staff.
We further stress the point that while staff welfare is important, the institution and student welfare are also important.
The school’s Managing Committee, which includes parents and teachers, will, however, meet to discuss these issues after Eid. We hope to ensure a smooth academic session and we are working hard towards that goal.
Warm regards,
Mehfooz Aslam
Principal
