Books have once again proved that they are the best companions as people across the world struggle to come to terms in isolation and the pandemic, books have become powerful tools to tackle loneliness and stimulate our minds.
World book day is celebrated every year on 23rd April to increase the public awareness towards reading. This day highlights the importance of books in the world of technological developments . United Nations along with the state members organizes campaigns through print and electronic media for promoting reading habit among people.
Celebrating this day , a special virtual assembly was conducted by students of class fifth of DPS BUDGAM about “WORLD BOOK DAY”. The theme of celebrating this day was to focus the attention of children to read more books . The celebration of this day motivates children to discover new ideas and increase their knowledge by reading wide range of books.
The assembly started with a prayer thanking God for His blessings .The students demonstrated participation by delivering speeches ,thoughts and reciting poems about the day. A melodious song was also played to pay a tribute to books and authors . The students also displayed various colourful posters which they had made.
Teachers highlighted the importance of books as books are magical. They can teach us , transport us, make us feel safe , push us out of our comfort zones and make us feel like we know people and places that one comes across while reading .Besides children were also shown presentations about different authors and their contributions.
The assembly ended with a note that books are the most quiet and most constant of friends , they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors and the most patient of teachers.
