May 1st is the day dedicated to workers and labourers across the world. This day celebrates labourers and encourages them to be aware of their rights. The day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement. On this day, the achievements of the working class are highlighted. It is celebrated throughout the country as Antarrashtriya Shramik Diwas (International Labour Day).
To celebrate this painstaking effort of the labour force, that work tirelessly, the International Worker’s Day also called as Labour Day, was celebrated at Delhi Public School Budgam on 1st May 2019 with great zeal. In view of the resent pandemic state, Labour day was celebrated through virtual medium. Students were given different tasks to research on and to collect facts. Class teachers also enlightened the students by sharing information regarding the International Labour Day.
On this occasion, a special assembly was conducted by the students of Class 12th. Students recited poems, delivered speeches, made posters highlighting the contribution of labours in building a strong nation. The chief motive was to demonstrate that Labour Day is a reminder for us that these are the real architects of our society, and they deserve their due respect. As we have always believed that it is the small acts of kindness that count and so, we attempt to inculcate that same virtue in our children.
The activity was designed to forge a better understanding of the labour community among our students who must learn to respect and appreciate their efforts.
The event concluded on the note: All labour that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance, and hence should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”
