“Eid-ul-Fitr the festival of fasting, kindness and good deeds”
Eid-ul-Fitr means “festival of breaking the fast , it marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan .It begins with the first sighting of new moon, and the day starts with Eid Prayers followed by a short sermon. Eid prayers are usually offered in large halls or in open . People visit relatives, friends, wear colourful clothes exchange gifts and money to children which is called as “eidi”.
On this day people help the needy with food, clothes and money which is called as as zakat as it is the day when all Muslims come together with promises of charity kindness, harmony and brotherhood. The festival is not about being happy but to make others happy also. The Muslims across globe show their gratefulness to Allah for everything they own .
The festival of Eid symbolises virtuousness, peace and brotherhood and to celebrate this festival a virtual assembly was conducted by class 5th of DPS Budgam. The assembly commenced with a prayer thanking Almighty for His blessings followed by thoughts and speeches by the students highlighting the glory and significance of this festival. Music always has a role to play in every celebration as music is the shorthand of emotions so melodious songs were also sung .The students displayed high level of enthusiasm and even performed dances. Colourful posters were displayed by the children at the end of assembly.
It is a day of rejoicing and bliss, it is a day of blessing and peace. It is a day to reflect and ponder . Most of all , it is a day to celebrate together .
