“That’s the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet.” — Jhumpa Lahiri
A book is a dream we hold in our hands; a reader lives a thousand lives before they die, while the one who never reads experiences only one. Recognizing the power of books to transport minds and broaden horizons, DPS Budgam took the initiative to celebrate the joy of reading on March 17, 2025. The event aimed to expose students to the boundless ocean of knowledge while encouraging them to explore the pleasures of literature.
The day began with prayer recitations, followed by short speeches delivered by students. The event also featured character descriptions, summary writing, and poetic compositions, offering the audience a glimpse into the creative and intellectual depth of young minds.
Honoring eminent literary figures like Shakespeare, Wordsworth, and Petrarch, students showcased their celebrated works, demonstrating the profound influence of literature on human lives.
Dr. D. Samuel Seelan, Principal of DPS Budgam, encouraged students to develop a stronger reading habit and commended the committee for organizing such an enriching event. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by the Dean of the School, Mr. Mehfooz Aslam, who applauded the students for their literary enthusiasm. Recognizing their potential, he congratulated them on their efforts and wished them success in their future endeavors.
