Orientation Programme -A Partnership for Success

On March 17, 2025, Delhi Public School, Budgam, organized an Orientation Programme for the parents of Nursery and LKG students in the school auditorium. The event was designed to strengthen the partnership between parents and the school, as both play a pivotal role in the holistic development of a child. The essence of the programme was captured through a powerful statement: A parent is a teacher at home, and a teacher is a parent in school, with the child at the center of our universe. This sentiment echoed throughout the event, reflecting the shared responsibility in nurturing young minds.

Esteemed dignitaries graced the occasion, including Pro VC Madam Mrs. Mumtaz-u-Nisa Soz, Principal Dr. D. Samuel Seelan, Dean Mr. Mehfooz Aslam, and Junior School Incharge Ms. Tanveer Joo. Their presence underscored the significance of the event and the commitment of the school leadership towards fostering a strong school-parent partnership.

Dr. Seelan, in his keynote address, emphasized the school’s core philosophy of maintaining high academic standards while creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. He spoke of the school’s dedication to instilling core values such as respect, empathy, resilience, integrity, and tolerance in students. These values, he explained, form the foundation of a well-rounded education.

Pro VC Madam Mrs. Mumtaz-u-Nisa Soz, in her address, urged parents to limit their children’s screen time, particularly their exposure to mobile phones, stressing the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between technology and traditional learning methods. She also highlighted the need for a collaborative approach between parents and teachers to ensure the overall well-being and success of the child.

Dean Mr. Mehfooz Aslam expressed his gratitude to the parents for their ongoing support and emphasized the pivotal role teachers and staff play in shaping the school’s success. He also acknowledged Pro VC Madam Soz’s leadership and her relentless efforts to bring the school to new heights.

The programme featured a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation that introduced parents to various aspects of the school’s curriculum, teaching methodologies, evaluation procedures, transportation system, and policies regarding attendance. The school’s policies aim to create an environment that promotes both the physical and emotional safety of students, while making learning an engaging and enjoyable experience.

A particularly impactful segment of the programme was Junior School Incharge Ms. Tanveer Joo’s informative session on the important distinction between good and bad touch. This awareness session provided parents with the tools to educate their children on essential life skills, ensuring their well-being both inside and outside of school.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by the host, followed by the distribution of ID cards and guidelines to the parents. A key aspect of the programme was the opportunity for parents and teachers to interact, fostering a spirit of collaboration and open communication.
