Cultural Extravaganza: “Celebrating Unity in Diversity” at DPS Budgam

Delhi Public School, Budgam, came alive with colors, rhythms, and the spirit of togetherness.It hosted its much-anticipated Cultural Diversity Event on June 2, 2025. The event was a vibrant celebration of India’s multicultural heritage and global traditions, embodying the spirit of “Unity in Diversity.”

The campus transformed into a mosaic of traditions, with students showcasing traditional dances, soulful music, and engaging skits representing various Indian states . Dressed in colorful ethnic attire, students brought a unique charm and authenticity to the performances, turning the day into a cultural carnival.

 “It’s heartwarming to see our students embrace and celebrate the country’s diverse cultures with such enthusiasm and respect,” said Mr. Mehfooz Aslam, the Dean of DPS Budgam, while addressing the gathering. “Cultural understanding is the foundation of global citizenship, and events like these are essential in shaping inclusive minds.”

The event was a collaborative effort, with teachers and students working hand-in-hand to craft performances that were not only entertaining but also enlightening. From folk dances of Rajasthan, and Assam to south Indian states, the stage became a platform for learning, appreciation, and unity.

 “I learned so much about different traditions today. It felt like we traveled across the country, in just a few hours,” shared Areeba Khan, a student participant.

Beyond entertainment, the event underscored key values such as respect, open-mindedness, and empathy, reinforcing the school’s vision of developing global awareness and cultural sensitivity.

 “It was more than just a celebration—it was a journey of discovery,” said Ms. Zainab Ahmad, a faculty member. “Our students didn’t just perform; they understood and internalized the essence of what they represented.”

The Cultural Diversity Event at DPS Budgam was a vivid reminder that though we come from different backgrounds, our shared humanity brings us together. The event left students, staff, and guests inspired and more connected—marking another milestone in the school’s dedication to holistic education.
