
Empowering Educators: Inclusive Education Workshop Led by Javed Ahmad Tak

A Capacity Building Programme on Inclusive Education was successfully conducted at DPS Budgam on 18th February, 2026, with the aim of sensitizing teachers about the importance of inclusive education and equipping them with strategies to implement it in their classrooms. The programme was a resounding success, with participants gaining valuable insights and skills to promote inclusive education.
The programme began with a warm welcome to the guest speaker, Mr. Javed Ahmad Tak, a Padma Shri awardee and a renowned advocate for disability rights. Mr. Tak delivered an insightful presentation on the key features of inclusive education and its implementation, highlighting the need for a shift in mindset and approach. He emphasized that inclusive education is not just about placing students with disabilities in regular classrooms, but about creating a culture of acceptance and belonging.
The presentation was followed by a group activity where participants were given situations to discuss and reflect on how they would handle them in an inclusive classroom setting. This activity encouraged peer learning and sharing of best practices among the teachers.
A unique segment of the programme was the sign language session conducted by special children and Special Educators accompanying Mr. Tak. This hands-on experience helped participants understand the importance of inclusive communication and how it can be used to bridge gaps.
The programme also featured a captivating dance performance by special children, showcasing their talents and abilities. The performance was a testament to the fact that every child has the potential to excel, given the right opportunities and support.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Principal Mrs. Glory George, who emphasized the need for making education inclusive and accessible to all. She assured that the school would take concrete steps to implement inclusive practices and make DPS Budgam a model inclusive school.
The event ended with a promise to implement inclusive practices in all schools, with participants leaving with a renewed sense of commitment to promoting inclusive education.
