“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” (John Muir)
Nestled in the lap of the majestic Himalayas, DPS Budgam orchestrated a mesmerizing eco-trip to Dachigam National Park on March 25, 2026, for our spirited 6th and 7th graders. Under the vigilant guidance of Mr. Mehfooz Aslam, Dean of Co-curricular Activities, this immersive journey unfolded like a living tapestry of biodiversity, weaving threads of environmental wisdom into young hearts.
As students ventured through the park’s dense, whispering forests—raw and untouched—they treaded lightly, honoring the fragile balance of nature. Guided trails unveiled a symphony of wildlife: the iridescent flash of trout fish in crystalline streams, elusive leopards prowling shadowed realms, the mighty Himalayan Brown Bear, and enigmatic black bears roaming their ancient domains. Each sighting sparked awe, transforming abstract lessons into vivid, hands-on encounters with ecology and conservation.
This expedition was more than a trek; it was a gentle awakening. Students emerged sensitized to the sacred duty of preserving habitats, armed with a profound appreciation for biodiversity’s intricate dance. The triumph of this day echoes the tireless dedication of Mr. Mehfooz Aslam and the stellar organizing team, who turned wilderness into a classroom without walls.
At DPS Budgam, we nurture not just minds, but stewards of the earth.
