SheCodes – Empowering Young Minds Through Technology at DPS Budgam

Delhi Public School Budgam, under the aegis of the Department of IT, successfully organized a two-day inter-school workshop, SheCodes, on 9th and 10th April. The workshop aimed at empowering young girls with essential technological skills and fostering confidence in the field of innovation and coding.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various schools across the region. It served as a dynamic platform where young learners stepped into the world of technology, explored new tools, and enhanced their problem-solving abilities under the expert guidance of skilled educators.

Workshop Overview (Day 1 & Day 2)

Both days of the workshop followed a structured yet engaging format, ensuring that all participants received equal exposure to key technological domains.

Students were introduced to HTML, where they learned to design and structure basic web pages. This was followed by hands-on sessions in Microsoft Excel, enabling participants to work with formulas, functions, and data organization techniques.

The workshop also included sessions on Python programming, where students explored fundamental coding concepts such as logic building and loops. In addition, the robotics segment provided a practical learning experience, allowing participants to assemble and interact with basic robotic models.

Each session was interactive and activity-based, encouraging students to actively participate, ask questions, and apply their learning in real time. The consistent structure across both days ensured reinforcement of concepts and boosted confidence among participants.

Interactive Learning & Engagement

One of the highlights of the workshop was the Rapid Response Round, conducted during the closing ceremony. Participants enthusiastically answered questions related to HTML, Excel, Python, robotics, and general technology. This segment added excitement and reinforced learning, with prizes awarded to active participants.

Closing Ceremony

The workshop concluded with a closing ceremony held in the school premises. The Principal, Ms. Glory George, addressed the participants and emphasized that dedication, determination, and a pure heart are the true keys to touching the horizon of success. Her inspiring words motivated students to believe in themselves and strive for excellence.

Participants were applauded for their enthusiasm, discipline, and eagerness to learn. Teachers from the Department of IT and resource persons were honored with mementos in recognition of their invaluable contribution. Certificates were distributed to all participants, marking their successful completion of the workshop.

Impact and Conclusion

SheCodes proved to be more than just a workshop—it was a transformative experience. It not only enhanced technical skills but also instilled confidence, creativity, and a sense of empowerment among young girls.
