Throughout May 2026, the Eco Club Junior Wing of DPS Budgam engaged students of Classes 1 to 5 in a series of hands-on environmental initiatives designed to build awareness and responsibility from a young age. The month began on 8th May, when students of Classes 3, 4, and 5 enthusiastically took part in a Cleanliness Drive, cleaning corridors, gardens, and classrooms while understanding the value of hygiene and collective care for their surroundings; on the same day, Classes 1 and 2 discovered the potential of Reuse and Recycle as they creatively turned everyday waste like old bottles, newspapers, and cardboard into useful items such as pen stands, planters, and bird feeders. On 15th May, the focus shifted to artistic expression when Classes 1, 3, and 4 participated in a Save Environment Poster Making Competition, filling their sheets with vibrant colors, powerful slogans like “Plant a Tree, Plant a Life” and “No Earth, No Birth”, and heartfelt messages for Mother Earth that were later displayed across the school to inspire others. The activities culminated on 22nd May with an energetic Save Environment Rally, where students of Classes 1, 3, 4, and 5 marched through the school premises carrying their handmade posters and chanting slogans like “Go Green, Breathe Clean” and “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”, spreading awareness among peers and staff. Together, these initiatives not only made the campus cleaner and more colorful, but also planted lasting seeds of environmental consciousness in young minds, reaffirming that when children take the lead, the Earth truly smiles.
