Language is the roadmap of a culture. It tells us where its people come from and where they are going…. On 3rd June 2026, the Junior Wing Language Departments of Delhi Public School, Budgam, hosted a vibrant Multi-Lingual Inter-House Declamation Competition for Class 4 students on in the school auditorium. The event, held on the theme ‘Gratitude is the Key to Happiness’, celebrated linguistic diversity as young orators spoke with confidence in English, Urdu, Hindi, and Kashmiri. The programme began with a warm welcome address. Students from all four houses — Dal, Nigeen, Wular, and Manasbal— participated with great zeal. Each child delivered their declamation with clarity, expression, and poise, reflecting weeks of dedicated preparation under the guidance of the Junior Wing language mentors. The Principal of DPS Budgam, Mrs. Glory George, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. She applauded the students for their confident performances and thanked the teachers for nurturing such talent.
The performances were assessed by a distinguished jury comprising Ms. Hina, Senior Faculty, and Mr. Nadeem, Head of the Urdu Department. They evaluated the participants on content, pronunciation, voice modulation, and overall presentation. The jury commended the students for their courage to speak on stage and for showing equal respect to every language.
Beyond building public speaking skills, the competition gave Class 4 students a platform to appreciate India’s unity in linguistic diversity. After a closely contested round, Khadeejah Mir from Nigeen House was declared as the best speaker in English, Mohammad Ibaad from Wular House in Urdu, Amyra Khan from Nigeen House in Hindi and Kaira Sajad from Manasbal House in Kashmiri. All participants were encouraged with certificates of appreciation for their effort and enthusiasm. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Nadeem, who praised the Language Departments for organizing such a meaningful programme. The auditorium resonated with applause as the young declaimers left the stage with proud smiles and renewed confidence
