Celebrating the Spirit of Freedom: Independence Day at DPS Budgam

“Freedom in the mind, faith in the words, pride in our hearts, and memories in our souls. Let us salute the nation.”

Delhi Public School, Budgam, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with heartfelt pride, patriotic zeal, and a deep sense of national spirit. The programme began with the hoisting of the National Flag by our Principal, Ms. Glory George, followed by the National Anthem. The tricolour fluttering against the morning sky set a solemn and inspiring tone for the day.

Our students brought the occasion to life with spirited performances featuring patriotic songs, vibrant dances, and cultural presentations that reflected their love for the nation and the values of courage, unity, and responsibility. Each performance showcased their dedication, creativity, and strong sense of national pride.

A thoughtful address by Mr. Mehfooz Aslam, Dean (Co-Curricular Activities), reminded everyone of the deeper meaning of Independence Day—that true patriotism is reflected through responsible, compassionate citizenship and active contribution towards the progress of the nation.

Adding further meaning to the week-long celebrations, the Junior School organised a Social Studies (SST) Exhibition, where young learners enthusiastically presented creative and informative models based on Indian freedom fighters and the historical monuments of India. The exhibition provided students with an engaging opportunity to explore India’s rich history and heritage while learning about the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the significance of the nation’s iconic monuments. Their impressive models reflected curiosity, creativity, research, and a growing appreciation for India’s glorious past.

The celebration concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold the values of freedom, equality, unity, and integrity and to contribute towards building a stronger and brighter India.
