A child needs grandparent to grow a little more securely into an unfamiliar world…
Grandparents are the family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy, the greatest storytellers, and the keepers of tradition. With its strong belief in the overall and holistic development of the child, Delhi Public School Budgam continues to instill values through the means of various events and celebrations. As grandparents are the family’s strong foundation and it is through their special love and care, grandparents keep a family close at heart. To honour them class UKG of the school celebrated Grandparents’ Day on 10th October, 2023. The celebration began with the traditional Isbandh Ceremony and a warm welcome by the principal-Mr.Mehfooz Aslam followed by a Prayer and a heart warming Welcome song.
The day was filled with oodles of blessings, happy faces, excitement and cheer as the budding stars displayed their love and affection for their grandparents.
Many power packed dance performances by the little superstars left the spectators spellbound and thoroughly mesmerized. The event held the gracious presence of Pro VC
D.P.S Budgam Ms Mumtaz-u- Nisa Soz, Mr. Mehfooz Aslam-Principal D.P.S Budgam and Junior School Incharge Ms. Tanveer Joo. The chief guest of the event was Mr. Ghulam Hassan Rather-a very well known face of Doordarshan, Kashmir. Grandparents shared some mesmerizing moments and the school campus had a different spell in the air. The fun-filled day saw activities including dance performances, songs, folk songs, fun games etc. held to entertain the gathering and to highlight the bond between the grandparents and the children. The grandparents with diverse experience and in different walks of life came together to relive their childhood. The Principal Mr. Mehfooz Aslam expressed gratitude to all the grandparents for the important role they play in positive attachments and family life. Mr. Mehfooz Aslam in his address highlighted the importance of grandparents in the upbringing of their grandchildren. The guest of the day Mr. Ghulam Hassan Rather appreciated the efforts of the school for inculcating basic moral values among the children and asserting the importance of having elderly people around. The success of the event was evident through the joyful smiles of the grandparents as they were overwhelmed to see their grandchildren performing for them. What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance- unconditional love, kindness, patience, humour, comfort and lessons in life.
