Educational Visit to J&K Institute of Mathematical Sciences
28th October 2023: The Department of Mathematics DPS Budgam conducted an educational trip on 28th October 2023 to the J&K institute of Mathematical Sciences (JKIMS) at Gogjibagh Jawahar Nagar which is an allied institute based on CIM.
The aim of the trip was to have an interactive session for the +2 students who have taken mathematics as one of their subjects. It comprised of 35 students and 3 faculty members.
The group was warmly received by the Director of the Institute – Professor Tariq Ahmad Shikari who thereafter commenced the programme with an introductory note followed by an overview of the campus, faculty and courses offered. Dr Nisar, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Dr Nazida Sheikh, Dr Hilal, Dr Abrar were among the resource persons present there to make the interactive session a success. Students were made aware of the importance of mathematics, career and job opportunities linked with the subject. Further, the role of mathematics in daily life was elucidated by the professors. It was followed by an interactive question-answer session. The trip concluded with refreshment and photography session.
