The Department of English Organises Inter house Debate
Debates help students in developing reasoning skills, gaining confidence, improving oratory skills, and sharpening wits. It is the best way of bring out innate qualities in students and finding solutions to complicated questions.
The Department of English conducted an inter-house debate competition on the topics
“Money is more important than morals” and “Should parents intervene in the lives of teenagers” for students of Class 10th and 11th, respectively. The students performed exceptionally well and complicated the job of the judges, who had to choose the best among exceptionally good speakers. It was a bouquet of scintillating performance and display of oratory skills that reflected the immense hard work put in by the participants. The entire hall reverberated with applause and cheers by the viewers. Rebuttal rounds put the audience on the edge of their seats, who were mesmerized by arguments and counter statements.
From class 10 Zia and Khadeeja got the first position; Aiza and Ayaan were declared the first runner up and Muqadus was declared the second runner up.
From class 11 Maysa Muzamil, Labeba Fayaz and Sheikh Saliq Rasool secured the first, second and third positions, respectively.
Continual speaking activities to groom our students and help them carve out a niche in the competitive society have been our endeavour at DPS Budgam. The Principal of the school, Mr. Mehfooz Aslam, appreciated the participants and encouraged the gathering in taking part in such activities at all levels. Prizes were distributed among the winners who received “books” as a trophy that would guide them further in their pursuit of success.
