Inter-School Zonal Level Badminton Competition

Spryness and endurance are the magic formulae associated with badminton and that is what the participants from DPS Budgam demonstrated in the Inter-School Zonal Level Badminton Competition organised by Govt. Girls High School, Ompora on 27th May 2023. The competition was organised for the categories of U-14 and U-17. It was held to enhance the proficiency of young children. It was an admirable effort undertaken by the Sports Department of the host school.
Almost 22 schools from the valley participated in both the categories of the competition. The matches began with a lot of enthusiasm displayed by the participants. The standard of the game displayed by the participating schools was high. Prisha Singh Joon and Darakshanda of 8th A from DPS Budgam, in the U-14 Doubles category, beat Girls High School, Ompora and emerged as the winners. The titleholders were felicitated by giving gold medals to them. U-17 girls from the school, made it all the way to the semi finals of the competition. It was a tough face-off between DPS Budgam and Girls High School, Shogopora. After playing singles and doubles, the winning team was Girls High School, Shogopora who progressed to the finals.
The event was a great success. Good sportsmanship was shown by all the participating schools. The tournament was quite a learning experience for the teams.
