INTER-SCHOOL ZONAL LEVEL BADMINTON COMPETITION

An Inter-School Zonal Level Badminton Competition was organised by the Office of the Zonal Physical Education, Budgam on 7th May 2024. The competition was organised for the categories of U-14 and U-17 boys. Inaugurated by the ZPEO Budgam, it was held at the Indoor Sports Stadium, Budgam to enhance the competence of young children. He addressed the participants, encouraging them to participate in games and sports.

The event witnessed an active participation of students in both the categories of the competition with a total of 108 participants from different schools of the valley. The matches began with great exuberance displayed by them. The standard of the game showcased by the participating schools was high. The students of DPS Budgam conquered the tournament and brought laurels to the school by emerging as the winners in the finals of U-14/17 Singles and Doubles category. Hyder Amin of 8th grade, in the U-14 Single category, beat KVS Humhama. Nabeel and Ryhaan Khursheed of 9th grade trounced Government Higher Secondary School, Shogapora in the U-14 Doubles category. In the U-17 Singles Category, Rehan Manzoor, a student of 11th grade, won the final match by vanquishing his opponent from KVS. In the U-17 Doubles category, Deepanjan Singh and Farhan Manzoor also got a resounding victory over JK Public School. The titleholders were felicitated with gold medals for their spectacular achievement.

It was an admirable effort undertaken by the Office of the Zonal Physical Education Budgam. The event was a great success. Good sportsmanship was shown by all the participating schools. The tournament was quite a learning experience for the teams.
