Inter-Section Debate For Class 5th
It’s easier to wrestle minds than to conquer hearts……
We don’t win a debate by suppressing discussion; but win it with a better argument. Free speech and debate are essential in our search for the truth. Knowing what to say is sense, when to say it is intelligence, how to say it is wisdom, why and how to say it is enlightenment. Keeping this in view, the school organised an Inter-Section Debate for class 5th on the topic ‘Does Pocket Money Spoil Children Or Not…’ on 24th June, 2023.
The aim of organizing debate competition was to hone the public speaking skills of the students and teach them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions.
Points presented were accepted by the Jury and audience. Some of the points even made audience think about the facts. Arguments were made and roved. The competition was so interesting with the exchange of student’s perspective by equally stating the merits and demerits of going for pocket money.
The debate comprised of two rounds. In the first round, debaters spoke eloquently for the motion or against the motion justifying their argument. Second round – Rebuttal Round was the main allurement of the event. Each question was answered very confidently and wittily. The session was the kaleidoscope of opinions, thoughts and perspective that enhanced the knowledge and the understanding about the topic. Mr. Mehfooz Aslam, Principal D.P.S. Budgam in his address encouraged all the participants to be part of such ventures. Mr. Aslam said that debate is not all about what you said but how you said it. He boosted the morale of debaters and asserted the importance of this kind of exposure for the students. The competition ended with felicitating the best speakers and encouraging all the students who were part of this competition.
